MCP Documentation

Connect Ledger AI to Claude, ChatGPT, and other MCP-capable clients.

Ledger AI exposes your accounting workspace through an authenticated MCP server so you can record transactions, inspect reports, and operate the ledger from chat.

Server details

Use this endpoint when your MCP client asks for the server URL.

MCP endpoint

https://api.getledger.ai/mcp

App URL

https://app.getledger.ai
01

Create your workspace

Sign in, create an organization, and finish the basic accounting setup inside Ledger AI.

02

Authorize your AI client

When Claude or ChatGPT starts the MCP connection flow, approve access in the browser.

03

Start operating from chat

Ask for reports, record transactions, create invoices, and inspect balances from your assistant.

What you can do through MCP

The MCP server is meant for operational accounting work, not just read-only lookups.

Create and post journal entries

List organizations and switch the active one

Create and manage accounts

Fetch balance sheet, trial balance, and P&L data

Work with invoices and settlements

Read guided bookkeeping resources exposed by the MCP server

Important session notes

These behaviors are intentional and matter during setup.

Every new MCP session starts without an active organization. Select or switch one before doing work.

If you do not have an organization yet, create it on the website first, then reconnect from your AI client.

The MCP server uses OAuth-protected access, so your assistant will redirect you through a browser approval flow.
